| Q: What is Flashstream? |
| A: Flashstream is a simple application allowing you to
broadcast any LIVE event with just a few mouse clicks.
After installing the free software and creating an account only
three simple steps are required to start a broadcast. |
| |
| Q: What operating system is required for the Flashstream application? |
| A: At this time our beta application is designed for
Windows XP and Windows Vista. |
| |
| Q: How does someone view a broadcast? |
| A: When a new broadcast is scheduled, the user
receives a confirmation email. A viewer need only click the link
or URL within the email to watch the event. |
| |
| Q: What hardware do I need to broadcast a live event? |
| A: You can broadcast using a USB camera/microphone or
a higher quality firewire connected camcorder. |
| |
| Q: What do I need to watch a live event? |
| A: Live broadcasts are viewed within a simple browser
window such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. Broadcasts
can also be viewed on Macintosh computers with the Safari
browser. |
| |
| Q: Why do I need to schedule an event prior to
broadcast? |
| A: Scheduling allows us to organize more efficiently
in our database. Events can be scheduled less than a
minute prior to broadcasting, although scheduling earlier allows
more time to distribute the confirmation email and URL to all
potential viewers. |
| |
| Q: What kind of internet connection do I need to
broadcast or view an event? |
| A: 100kbps (kilobits per second) is needed to both
transmit a live broadcast to our servers as well as view a
broadcast from our servers. This speed is well within the
range of nearly all broadband or cable based internet
connections. |
| |
| Q: What if a remote viewer cannot watch until after
the live event is over? |
| A: The video is automatically recorded while the live
broadcast is running. If a viewer clicks the URL after the
event is over, the recorded video will play automatically. |
| |
| Q: Can I broadcast using WiFi? |
| A: Absolutely. You can even broadcast using some
of the various high speed cellular broadband cards (i.e. EVDO
and 3G) available from telecommunications company around the
world. |
| |
| Q: How is Flashstream funded? |
| A: Flashstream uses limited advertising to cover those
costs needed to provide our free service. |
